Germany, Transgender Self-Determination Act approved

After two years, the German Parliament passed the Law for the Self-Determination of Transgender Citizens and Non-Binary Citizens

This law will allow trans and non-binary people aged 14 and over to more easily and quickly change their name and gender on official documents such as passports.

The Law on Self-Determination (as it is) was approved with 374 votes in favour, 251 votes against and 11 abstentions and will officially enter into force in November.

From November, citizens aged 14 and over will be able to change their name and gender in official documents, simply by submitting an application to the Registry Office of their municipality.

The Law on Self-Determination will replace the previous Law, which was almost 40 years old.  This is what Marco Buschmann, Minister of Justice of the Liberal Democratic Party, said.

‹‹Imagine that… You simply want to live your life and not wish anything bad on anyone, and then you’re asked what your sexual fantasies are, what underwear you wear, and things like that. Now we just want to make life a little easier for a small group for whom it means a lot››.

Cristian González Cabrera, senior researcher on LGBTQ+ rights at Human Rights Watch, said.

‹‹As populist politicians in Europe seek to use trans rights as a political issue, the new German law sends a strong message that trans people exist and deserve recognition and protection, without discrimination.››

REDEMPTION DAYS: The United States. A group of friends and an association that cultivates ethnic discrimination, racial superiority, and the fight against any diversity as essential pillars of its doctrine. These are the main elements of this multi-faceted novel, at times raw and hard, far from pity and useless turns of phrase, in which extreme fanaticism leads a father to desire the evil of his homosexual son, to the point of acting personally for the annihilation of this inclination. Yet “REDEMPTION DAYS” is not a novel that takes away space for hope, the same feeling that will take possession of the protagonist’s page after page, directing them to arrive very differently from the departure, a goal in which ideas change, the true virtues emerge, evil and perversions are finally removed, to achieve so, in different ways, their individual redemption.
