First permanent Rainbow flag in Spain

First permanent Rainbow flag in Spain

Spain will be the first country to have a permanent flag for the international LGBT+ movement.

Madrid will see the first permanent Rainbow flag flying in Plaza Pedro Zerolo, in the Chueca district. The first case in Europe and a clear signal to remember that the city of Madrid and the whole of Spain will not bow to hatred, racism and homotransphobia after the recent cases that have occurred, particularly in Madrid.

Begona Villacis, deputy mayor of Madrid, said about the permanent display of the symbol of the LGBT+ community.

Madrid is free because you can go around hand in hand with whomever you want, you can kiss and marry whoever you want.

The official presentation of the initiative was attended by about a hundred people, including representatives of Mas Madrid and Recupera Madrid, as well as the spokesman of the Socialist Party in the city council.

While in Italy the Zan DDL for a law against homotransfobia is now certain to be scuttled. Our country’s situation increases the distance – in terms of civil rights – with the rest of the European Union, while it brings us closer to nations such as Poland and Hungary.
