Mistreatment and homophobia against their son
Homophobia is present in Italian families. The number of cases involving minors is rising , as are the number of reports. In the latest case – after the 16-year-old girl who was taken to an exorcist to make her heterosexual – a pair of parents inflicted violence on their son after learning of his homosexuality.

The victim came forward and complained to the school psychologist about the abuses inflicted by his parents, such as running at night to train ‘like a real man’ or reading his personal diary in public with the sole aim of humiliating him.
Among the parents, the tormentor – according to the victim’s testimony – was the father, while the mother went along with him. Father and mother continue to defend themselves, accusing their son of being ‘confused’ about sexuality and that he was the one who distorted the facts. In their opinion, they were helping him not to make impulsive decisions and to ‘contemplate’ heterosexuality.

Currently, the teenager is in a community for minors removed from their families where he finally feels comfortable and free to live his identity as he sees fit.
