Former Minister Spadafora’s coming out in Fabio Fazio’s TV programme ‘Che Tempo Che Fa’
Vincenzo Spadafora, Movimento Cinque Stelle MP and former Minister for Youth Policy and Sport in the first Conte government (2019-2021) publicly came out during an interview with Fabio Fazio.
He said: ”I think that people’s private lives should remain private, but I also think that those who have a public role, a public role, have some extra responsibility” and ”I did it also for myself because I learned perhaps very late that it is very important to love and respect each other”.

During the programme, Vincenzo Spadafora explained the reasons that led him to publicly come out.
“One reason is very political, to testify to my political commitment, for all those who fight for their rights every day and have fewer opportunities to do so than I do because of my role. But also a religious testimony, I am a Catholic who believes very much in his faith, it may seem contradictory, but it is not at all. In politics, homosexuality is also used to hurt, to strike the opponent, with a buzz that I wanted to turn off tonight. I hope to be considered for what I do, for what I am, and from tomorrow I will perhaps be happier because I will feel more free“.
