Israel’s representative at the next Eurovision will be openly gay
Michael Ben David will represent the State of Israel at the upcoming Eurovision 2022 in Turin and – hopefully – he will not be the only openly gay singer in the competition. The singer triumphed – in the midst of the Covid pandemic – at the fourth edition of X-Facor Israel, then pulled out the ticket for the European competition with a lyric urging people not to renounce their nature.

The representative of the State of Israel, Michael Ben David was born a few kilometres from Tel Aviv, more precisely in Petali Tikva, and since he was a child he has had to face bullying from his schoolmates because he was considered too effeminate and his voice was too high-pitched. In order to escape from that hell, he was transferred to a private boarding school, where once he realised his true identity, he publicly came out to his family.
Once his obligation in the Israeli army had been fulfilled – in Israel all citizens are obliged to serve a period of military service – he entered the Beit Zvi School of Performing Arts where he graduated in 2020 and after winning the X-Factor found himself singing his way to Europe.
