Data speaks of a ‘rainbow’ majority voting for Kamala Harris
Donald Trump will return to the White House, but in the recent presidential election held on 5 November, 86% of openly LGBTQIA voters chose and voted for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, while only 27% voted for Donald Trump.
This is a significant increase from the 2024 presidential election, when the tycoon received 12% of the “rainbow” vote against Joe Biden.
NBC News exit polls showed that Kamala Harris’ performance among LGBTQIA voters was the strongest of any Democratic Party candidate in the last five presidential elections.
The rainbow community showed strong support for the Vice President, with 91% of LGBTQIA voters of colour voting for her, compared to just 5% for Trump.
Despite the massive support from the LGBTQIA community, it wasn’t enough to tip the scales in favour of the Democratic candidate. However, the Rainbow Vote has proven to be a significant and influential voting bloc with a growing importance in the US political landscape.
