Republicans return to attack on transgender athletes ahead of tycoon’s White House arrival
The Republican Party has put forward one of the main proposals of its 2024 election campaign (which saw Donald Trump triumph): the abolition of transgender rights.
Not only that, but Republican members of the House and Senate have introduced several bills to ban the participation of transgender girls and women in high school and college sports at the federal level.
In the United States, 26 states have already passed similar laws at the state level banning transgender athletes from participating in high school and college sports.
The new bill defines sex as “based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth“.
Greg Steube (R-Fla.): “We promised to protect women’s sports, and under President Trump, we will keep that promise.”
Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.): “I’ve said many times that I think Title IX is one of the best things to come out of Washington. But it’s been destroyed in the last few years.“
At this point, LGBTQIA rights groups are organising for a new war against the new White House leadership to protect their civil rights.
