Brutal transphobic murder in Georgia
Kesaria Abramidze (37), a well-known transgender influencer (of Georgian origin) with over 500,000 followers on Instagram, was found lifeless in her apartment on Wednesday 18 September.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, Kesaria Abramidze had suffered ”multiple stab wounds” and the authorities are investigating a ”premeditated murder committed with particular cruelty and aggravating circumstances on grounds of gender”.
The actress and model is well known to the general Georgian public for her participation in several television programmes, with her first appearance in the TV series ”Psychopath Games”.
In 2015, she starred in an advertisement for underwear, and just three years later, she participated in the Miss Trans World beauty pageant as the representative of Georgia.
Georgian authorities have arrested her boyfriend Beka Dzhaiani as a suspect in the murder of Kesaria Abramidze.
Let us recall that Georgia recently passed the anti-LGBTQIA law called “Family Values“.
A law that further exacerbates tensions and violence against LGBTQIA people.
