For a long time I was the only gay guy in action movies, Here is what actor Luke Evans told Out
Welsh actor Luke Evans recently gave an interview to Out magazine, where he talks, about being an openly gay actor in today’s Hollywood.
Recall that his coming out was in 2002 but since then he has not had any gay roles, in fact there have been the few films in which he played a gay man such as in “Good Grief” and “Our Son.”
However, he has always been cast for parts usually given to heterosexual actors. Parts for men of action.
In this regard, it is Luke Evans himself who admits that he still has mixed feelings:
”I’m shocked that I’m still working. I think it’s the kind of attitude of the working class, to be grateful for everything you get. So when you’re successful, you think, ‘Really? Why me and not the other guy?’ […] I’m uncomfortable with my success and fame. I handle it well. But you know, it’s not easy […] Even today, every day, I pinch myself and think, ‘How did this happen? And how did I do it?’
