Damaged the Rainbow flag placed by the municipality at the entrance of the city

To coincide with the International Day Against Homophobia, the City Council of Quartu Sant’Elena (Metropolitan City of Cagliari) hoisted the traffic circle at the seaward entrance to the city’s flag symbolizing the struggle for LGBT+ civil rights.

Weeks later and precisely on Pride Month, vandals cut the eyelets that held the flag hanging from the flagpole. A cowardly act.

Despite the homophobic act of vandalism, Councillor Carta the Rainbow flag will soon fly again at the entrance to the city.

” The damage and removal confirm once again that we must not stop in the fight for the recognition of fundamental rights. It will certainly not be a cowardly act that will stop us. We will still continue with our battles.”
