Czech footballer Jakub Jankto in a lengthy interview went over his coming out and the fact that there are gay footballers in soccer
Jakub Jankto (27) midfielder for Sparta Prague and the Czech Republic national soccer team has returned to talk about his coming out and how he shook off that unbearable burden and how he is happy today with the path he took.
New coming out in soccer: Jakub Jankto
”I came out first for myself and then to help others. How much did I think about it? I knew from an early age, however, you say ‘I can continue in some way.’ Let’s say that the football world is a bit homophobic, I have said it many times and we all know it, however, it came to me suddenly, it was not something planned. It came to me like that and I’m not sorry I did it. Finally, I can do what I want to do and I am so happy.”

And he also talked about other players who are terrified of publicly coming out.
”I will not name names, however, there are other gay players. There were, there are, and there will be. They are. Messages have come to me. I don’t expect them to come out now as well, however, maybe my example can help them, and maybe in the future they will think ‘I can do it too.”
